Rose Virginia Caulder Christian

Rose Virginia Caulder Christian, age 90, passed away peacefully in her home in Fairview, Texas on December 10, 2014. She was born In Enid, Oklahoma January 9, 1924. She was a graduate of the Palmer School of Chiropractic Medicine in Oklahoma City and received her Associate in Arts Degree from Texarkana College in 1955. Rose had a long career as a lab technician and retired from Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas in 1988. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Allen where she taught the Friendship Sunday School Class for 20 years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Ruth Circle where she was known for her wonderful book reviews. For the past 7 years she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of McKinney where she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class and Thursday morning bible study. She also enjoyed the Tuesday morning book club followed by lunch with her group of buddies. She volunteered at Medical Center of Plano for many years. Her true devotion was on her faith and family. She was lovingly known to many friends and family as Merma. She carpooled grandchildren, cooked homemade meals for family dinners, and kept everybody in line. She was a humble leader who never sought the spotlight. She always saw the good in people. She was a true disciple of God’s Love.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Richard Christian and his wife Cheryl, daughter Druscilla Rose Christian and husband Stephen M. Bookout, 5 grandchildren Caulder Bookout and wife Amy, Sarah Ruth Hurlbert and husband Jeff, Dr. Stephen Christian and wife Maddelle, Allison Frost and husband Derek, Brian Christian and wife Lynn and 12 great-grandchildren Conner Bookout, Tanner Bookout, Tate Bookout, JP Hurlbert, Caroline Hurlbert, Bryce Christian, Caulder Christian, John Alan Frost, Anna Frost, Christian Frost, Andrew Christian, and Jackson Christian; sister, Barbara Ann Bellows and husband John, and three nephews and one niece.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Thomas Jefferson Caulder and Carol Ora Davis Caulder, and her sister Naurice “Nodie” O’Donald.  

A funeral service will be held Monday, December 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of McKinney, 315 North Church St., McKinney, Texas 75069. Family and friends are invited to join a brief reception following the service at the church. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Sunday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Allen Community Outreach www.acocares.org/aco/, and Samaritan Inn of McKinney, www.thesamaritaninn.org.
