Rosalie Francine Malunowicz

Rosalie Francine (D’Amelio) Malunowicz, age 96 of Frisco, Texas passed away on January 19, 2015 in McKinney, Texas. She was born on August 25, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York to Pietro and Vida Marie (LaCamfora) D’Amelio. Rosalie married Walter A. Malunowicz on August 3, 1974 in Queens Village, New York.

She was a trailblazer and pioneer as a young woman graduating with a B.S. from St. Johns University in New York. Needing a vacation, she took a trip to Europe resulting in 5 years of working as a nurse with the U.S. Army in Paris and Germany. Upon her return to the U.S., Rosalie went on to become a teacher and continue her education at Teachers College at Columbia University, earning both a Masters of Science and a Masters of Arts degree in Nursing. Rosalie accepted a position at Adelphi University teaching various nursing courses and earned her Doctoral degree in Curriculum and College Teaching. She was influential at Adelphi, chairing and participating in many committees.

She continued to stay active after retirement, both with the Church and with organizations such as the American Cancer Society.

Rosalie is remembered with love by her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Diane Malunowicz of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Alex Malunowicz and Nicole Malunowicz both of Frisco, Texas and her sister, Emily Seminara of Richmond, Virginia.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Malunowicz; parents, Pietro and Vida D’Amelio; brothers, Paul D’Amelio, John D’Amelio, Frank D’Amelio and her sister, Marie Russo.

The family will receive friends at  Visitations to be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 10:30 AM with Msgr. Larry Pichard presiding.
