Ronald Dale Collyar, 77, of Plano, formerly of Lubbock, Texas passed away October 5, 2013, in Plano, Texas. Ron was born December 15, 1935, in Stillwater, Oklahoma to J. B. and Gertie Collyar. He graduated from Stillwater High School in 1954 and married Joanna Wallace, June 16, 1955, in Stillwater. Ron attended Panhandle A&M on a football scholarship, Oklahoma A&M, and graduated from Texas Tech. Throughout his 56 years in Lubbock, he was a Juvenile Probation Officer for Lubbock County, Physical Director of the YMCA, and Realtor of over 30 years. Ron enjoyed playing and watching sports, particularly golf and football. His greatest pleasure came from spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joanna; son, Bob Collyar and wife, Debbie and grandson, Isaac of California; son, Bill Collyar and wife, Lori and granddaughters, Natalie and Brooke of Plano; daughter, Beth Collyar of Dallas, and daughter, Barbara Collyar of Willow Park. He is also survived by two sisters, Betty Bolton and husband, Chris and Shirley Callahan and husband, Bob; brother-in-law, Dick Smith; sisters-in-law Darlene Collyar and Joyce Collyar and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; brothers, Leo and Bryan Collyar; sister, Norma Smith, and a niece and nephew.
A memorial service will be held at Turrentine Jackson Morrow, McKinney/Allen, Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at 4:00 p.m.
