Ron Cohen, age 57, of Plano, Texas, passed away on July 3, 2010 from the complications of pancreatic cancer. Ron was born January 28, 1953 in Albany, New York, to Bernard and Hilde Gerson Cohen. He loved his close-knit family and wonderful group of friends, playing tennis, his job helping people understand and manage their money, as well as a good game of poker. Ron was a 1971 graduate of Milne High School in Albany, New York. He graduated with a bachelor degree in Business Administration with honors from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts in 1976. Ron earned his MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1981. He worked for St. Regis Paper, Frito-Lay and for the last 19 years has been a Certified Financial Planner with the Principal Financial Group in Dallas, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Luann Boggs of Plano,Texas; son, J. Parker Cohen of Plano, Texas; parents, Bernie and Hilde Cohen of Albany, New York; brother, Mark Cohen; niece, Lexi Cohen, both of Schenectady, New York; brother, Eric Cohen of Latham, New York; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Mary Boggs of Shelby Township, Michigan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Louis and Jenny Boggs of Prudenville, Michigan; niece, Dr. Lyndsy Boggs of Cleveland, Ohio; nephew, Louis Brett Boggs of Traverse City, Michigan; cousin, Lori Toranto Dorsky and her husband and children, Stephen Dorsky and Isa and Rebecca Dorsky; and cousin, Jill Toranto Atlas and her husband Alvin Atlas all of Birmingham, Alabama. Ron was preceded in death by his godparents, his aunt Sissy Cohen Toranto of Birmingham, Alabama in May of this year and his uncle Walter Gerson of New York, New York in February of 1996. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 15th at 4:00 pm at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening from 6:00 -8:00 pm at the funeral home.
