Robert Warren Winders

Robert Warren Winders, age 76, of McKinney, Texas, passed away July 3, 2013, in McKinney. Bob was born October 19, 1936, in Temple, Texas, to Robert Cecil and Georgia Mae (Warren) Winders. Bob grew up in McKinney and graduated from McKinney Boyd High School in 1955. He married Mary Evelyn Tinsley on June 2, 1956, in McKinney. Bob started working in the banking industry and worked for forty-six years at the same bank, Collin County National Bank, which later became Texas American Bank, Team Bank, Bank One and finally to JP Morgan Chase Bank from which Bob retired. He then went on to work for Community Credit Union and View Point Bank and retired again. Bob graduated from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU in 1966 with a Trust degree. He also maintained a Texas Real Estate license. Bob served on the McKinney School Board for fifteen years, was a member and past president of McKinney Rotary Club, held a position on the Samaritan Inn Board of Directors, and was a past member of the Board of Directors for the Boy’s Club of McKinney. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting with family and friends, and participating in the McKinney Supper Club. Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church of McKinney where he was very active serving on various committees and was a member of the Canafax Sunday School class.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Winders of McKinney, Texas; children, Jan Winders Nestor and husband, Rodger of Houston, Texas, Ann Winders Matthews and husband, Mike of Glenn Heights, Texas, and Jim Winders and wife, Lori of McKinney, Texas; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013, at First United Methodist Church in McKinney, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
