Robert “Bob” Lewis West, age 74 of Farmersville, Texas passed away February 19, 2015 in Farmersville. He was born April 10, 1940 in McKinney, Texas to Lewis Higgins and Mildred Ruby (Strother) West. Bob married Digna Esther Lopez February 14, 1999 in Farmersville, Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church of McKinney, Texas, where he was a lifelong choir member, longtime Deacon, and Sunday school teacher for Jr. High and High School Boys. Bob worked for Collins Radio, now known as Rockwell International, for twenty-eight years. He then went on to work for Allard Engineering, and created West Construction and Frontier Design. He attended Texas A&M University and University of North Texas. He was a McKinney City Logo Designer, Frequent Art Show Judge, and took part in numerous civic committees, as well as restoring over 160 historic structures in and around McKinney.
He is survived by his loving wife Digna West of Farmersville; his former wife Kathy West of McKinney, and their two daughters, Shelly B. West of Dallas, Texas and Dayna Kufner of Mesa, Arizona; brother, James West of McKinney, Texas; sister, Mary Beth Boston of Dallas, Texas; Digna’s beloved children he raised as his own, Noelia Garcia of Farmersville, Texas, Fransheska Dlugopolski of Fairbanks, Alaska, Greysha Lopez of Farmersville, Texas, Jeremy Rivera of McKinney, Texas and Oscar Lopez of Garland, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren; his beloved First Baptist Church and choir families; Rockwell International, Allard Engineering, Frontier Design families, and his roping horse Trash.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Mildred West.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of McKinney, Texas with Rev. Ricky Hargrave officiating. A remembrance gathering will be held Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Honorary Pallbearers will be, James Edwin West, Jemery Rivera, Dr. Don Mitchell, William Redman, Ty West, Turner West, Oscar Lopez, and Larry Curfman.
