Robert Lee “Bob” Thompson, Jr., of McKinney, Texas passed away October 3, 2012 at the age of 74. He was born in Dallas, Texas on September 12, 1938, to Robert L. Thompson, Sr. and Mary (Bell) Thompson. Bob graduated from North Dallas High School with his future wife in 1956, and attended the University of Texas. On August 23, 1958 he married Torchianna Stringer in Dallas. Bob moved to McKinney in 1966 and built his home in 1968 where he was living at the time of his death. He worked in the automotive industry for approximately twenty years. He then moved on to the McKinney Independent School District, where he served as the Facilities/Transportation Director and later worked in public school transportation as a Sales/Marketing Director for Laidlaw and then STS. Among many, many public service contributions, Bob served several years on the McKinney Independent School Board, including time as President, and as a member of the McKinney Rotary Club for decades, where he was also a past President and a Paul Harris Fellow.

He is survived by his wife, Torchianna Thompson of McKinney, Texas; children, Robert L. Thompson, III and wife Michelle of Richardson, Texas, William S. Thompson and wife Dawn of Colleyville, Texas, and Tori Ann Fults and husband Tracy of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Travis, Rhys, Laura, Addison, Hana, Torchy, Sam, and James; sisters, Jeanette Hanks of Dallas and Jeanene Nations of Mesquite; brothers, Ronald Thompson of Highland Village and Donald Thompson of Angleton; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Thompson, Sr. and Mary Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m., on Friday evening, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
