Robert Douglass "Doug" Stewart

Robert Douglass “Doug” Stewart, age 84, of Westminster, Texas, passed away on September 2, 2011. He was born April 25, 1927, in Graham, Texas, to Jack H. Stewart Sr. and Virginia Lee (Hight) Stewart. Doug married his wife Mary Katharine, on February 19, 1954, in Richardson, Texas. He graduated with a degree in Journalism from Southern Methodist University. Doug proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and Air Force during World War II. He was a mail carrier in Dallas, moving on to become a U.S. Customs Inspector for 30 plus years working at Love Field Airport, and ending his career at DFW Airport. Doug was an avid golfer, a voracious reader and had many interests including a love of all music; Opera, classical, country, hip hop, pop, and the list goes on. Always obsessed with movies, after retirement he went on an almost daily basis. He is survived by his children, Liz Warrick and husband Mark of Westminster, Texas and Phillip Skiles of Westminster, Texas; grandchildren, Corey Warrick of Westminster, Texas and Chance Warrick of McKinney, Texas; great-grandchildren, Rylee Warrick of Westminster, Texas and Kenny Warrick of Meridian, Texas; brothers, Jack H. Stewart Jr. and wife Helen of Grand Prairie, Texas and Tony Stewart and wife Vickie of Robert Lee, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving family and friends. Doug is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sister, Virginia Lee Ellis. The family would like to thank the staff of McKinney Healthcare and Rehabilitation for the extraordinary care they gave Doug. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Big Springs Cemetery in Garland, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Tuesday evening, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
