Robert Fay Smith

Mr. Robert Fay Smith, age 95, of Celina, Texas passed away April 24, 2005 at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman, Texas. Mr. Smith was born December 22, 1909 in Collin County near McKinney, Texas to George Harper Smith Sr. and Birta Mae (Hays) Smith. He moved with his family to Celina when he was a young child. He attended school at the Corinth School, Cottage Hill School and Celina High School. Mr. Smith married Emma Ruth Webster January 4, 1932 in Clovis, New Mexico. They were married for 65 years. He attended the Cottage Hill Methodist Church. He was a farmer all his life and retired from farming when he was 88 years old. Mr. Smith is survived by one daughter Shirley and husband Elton Clark of Sherman; son William Smith of Celina; brother, Roy Smith and sister, Dovie Shaw of Celina; grandchildren, Elna and David Singleton of Mesquite, TX, Maurie and Jeff Knuppel of Roanoke, VA., Darin Smith of Allen, TX; Christy and Bryan Harris of Friona, TX and Jeremy Smith of Clovis, New Mexico; great grandchildren. Emily and Laci Singleton of Mesquite, TX, Lauren and Matthew Knuppel of Roanoke, VA., Taylor Smith of Allen, TX, and Cheyenne and Skyler Harris of Friona, TX; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pallbearers will be Gailon Chaffin, Jerry Spence, John Tucker, John Shaw, Clifford Baxter, Bill Blackburn and Charlie Chaffin, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Webster, Ray Webster, Mark Smith, Ray Shinpaugh, and William Tolleson. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Celina with reverend Mike Varrassi officiating. Interment will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Celina.
