Robert “Mike” James, 64, of Allen, Texas passed October 24, 2014 after an eight year battle with breast cancer. He was born January 7, 1950 to Robert Hayes and Irma Lee (Riggs) James in Dallas, Texas. Mike was a 1969 graduate of a Cuernavaca, Mexico High School. After high school, he moved back to the United States and attended Texas A & I. He married Sara Castro on July 27, 1974 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Mike began his career in retail managment which led him to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In 1976 they moved to Allen, Texas. He retired from retail management after thirty-eight years. Mike loved cars, motorcycles and posessed the ability to fix anything. He was in constant motion. Mike was an amazing and patient teacher. He will be remembered as a great friend, father and husband. Mike was very proud of his children and was determined in his fight to allow as much time with his family as possible.
He is survived by his wife, Sara James of Allen, Texas; children, Michelle Lentz and husband Michael of Allen, Texas and Chris James and wife Holli of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Gavin and Emma Lentz of Allen, Texas, Luke and Gabriel James of McKinney, Texas; sisters, Barbara Taylor and husband Thomas of Schertz, Texas and Judith Lensch and husband Darrell of Sachse, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family in Mexico.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Irma James.
A memorial mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 30, 2014 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 N. Greenville, Allen, Texas 75002.
