Robert Carroll Barstad

Mr. Robert Carroll Barstad, age 77 of Allen, Texas, passed away November 30, 2005 in McKinney, Texas. He was born on December 19, 1927 in Radcliff, Iowa to Bardolf and Gladys (Larson) Barstad. On February 1, 1948, he married Veloise Ann Ahrens in Boone, Iowa. He was a member of Plano Bible Chapel and a member of the American Legion 191 of Webster City, Iowa. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard from 1944 until 1946. He spent most of his life working in the family bakery with his father and brother in Boone, Iowa. The rest of his life he worked in the restaurant industry. He retired and moved to Texas in 1993. Survivors include his wife, Veloise Barstad of Allen; son, Robert D. Barstad and wife Jan of McKinney; daughter, Rhonda Lu Brunworth and husband Todd of Gaylord, Michigan; 6 grandchildren, Jeff Barstad and wife Kristen of College Station, Texas, Sarah Mason and husband Paul of Allen, Scott and Jenn Brunworth of Belleville, Illinois, Jennifer and Josh Prater of Adrian, Michigan, Ryan Brunworth and wife Kristi of Norton Shores, Michigan, and Lindsey Luma and husband Corey of Plainwell, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Lilly, Emma, Benson, Mason, Cody, and Halie; sister Sherrill Balcom and husband Jack of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; and several other loving relatives and friends. His parents and brothers, Keith and Leland Barstad precede him in death. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM, Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Plano Bible Chapel, 1900 Shiloh Road, Plano, Texas, (972) 423-5321, Rev. Robert Mathews and Rev. Todd Brunworth officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of choice that provides Christmas to children in need.
