IN LOVING MEMORY

Rick Royce Miller, Jr.

Mar 05 1976 - Jul 04 2012

Beloved son, brother, husband and father Rick Royce Miller, Jr. of Allen was called home to the Lord on July 4, 2012. Rick’s life began March 5, 1976, in Big Spring, Texas, the son of Rick and Ruby Miller. The close-knit community of Clyde, Texas, nurtured Rick’s formative years before he graduated from Clyde High School in 1994. Rick received his bachelor’s degree in finance from Texas Tech University, earned his Certified Professional Accountant designation, and later earned an MBA from Southern Methodist University. His professional career included roles in finance at EDS and Hewlett-Packard, where he worked a combined 14 years.

Rick’s true passions in life were his family, especially his wife and two children, and the outdoors, where he enjoyed spending as many free moments as possible in the woods or on the water. An avid hunter and fisherman, Rick enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with close friends and with his son Cole. He was a fixture at his daughter Conley’s soccer games, and he loved coaching his son’s Red and Blue Rangers Little League baseball teams. Rick had a gift for connecting with young people and loved each child he coached.

A man of strong faith and spiritual conviction, Rick never missed an opportunity to help a friend or stranger in need. Throughout his life, he brightened and improved the lives of others in countless ways. Rick lived his Christian faith in every aspect of his life, providing others a tangible and often humble testimony through his words, actions and deeds. Rick loved his church family at First Baptist Church Allen, and one of his greatest joys was seeing his two children baptized at their church home.

Rick is survived by his wife Marley (Shuler) Miller; son Cole Thomas Miller; daughter Conley Ruth Miller, all of Allen, Texas; parents Rick and Ruby Miller, Sr. of Clyde, Texas; sisters Christy Miller of Fleming Island, Fla., and Misty Terry of Mansfield, Texas; brother-in-law Quintin Terry of Mansfield, Texas; nieces Brooklyn and Reagan Terry of Mansfield, Texas; nephew Joshua Holder of Fleming Island, Fla.; mother-in-law Margie Shuler of Abilene; father-in-law Philip Shuler of Temple, Texas; brothers-in-law Joel Shuler of San Antonio and Lance Shuler of Portland, Oregon; sisters-in-law Kathryn (Murphy) Shuler of San Antonio and Margaret (Stanton) Shuler of Portland, Oregon; and many other loving family members and friends.

A celebration of Rick’s life was held Sunday, July 8, at First Baptist Church Allen in Allen, Texas. He was laid to rest at the beautiful Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.
