Richard W. Roberts, age 81, formerly of Allen, Texas, passed away June 17, 2014, in Greenville, Texas. Richard was born August 31, 1932, in Frisco, Texas, to Richard St. Clair and Bernice (Carter) Roberts. He proudly served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. Richard married Shirley Pilkinton on December 11, 1953, in McKinney, Texas. She preceded him in death in 2002. He later married Juanelle Cooksey and she preceded him in death in 2012. Richard loved his family, loved to cook and make peanut brittle. He had a servant’s heart and enjoyed a lifetime of fixing things for people as well as taking care of others.
He is survived by his children, Gina High and husband, Dan of Rowlett, Texas, Sheryl Kelley and husband, John of Richardson, Texas, Tony Roberts and wife, Dawn of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Stephen Roberts and wife, Lorie of Greenville, Texas; grandchildren, Paul, Matthew, Tyler, Collin, Tiffany, Stephanie, Angela, Heather, and Christa; eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Roberts of Bonham, Texas; Juanelle’s children, Cindy, Beverly, and Ronny and their families; and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was also preceded in death by grandson, James Daniel Stobaugh and brother, Billy Roberts.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.
