Rex Leldon Jones, age 78, of McKinney, Texas, passed away April 15, 2012, in McKinney. Rex was born August 12, 1933, in Pilot Point, Texas, to Cecil and Winnie (Lockett) Jones. He married Geneva “Leella” Guffey on May 14, 1956, in Durant, Oklahoma. Rex was a shipping and receiving manager and a stock supervisor for Varo Semiconductor Company. He was a member of Branch Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School. Rex loved to go to the McKinney Senior Center to play 42 and also enjoyed fishing. He loved being around people and was known as a “people person”. Rex especially loved his family. He proudly served in the United States Navy as a Gunner’s Mate.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva “Leella” Jones of McKinney, Texas; sons, Michael Jones and Lynae of Denison, Texas, Gary Jones of McKinney, Texas, and Mark Jones and wife, Kellie of Branch, Texas; daughter, Melody and husband, Oscar of Princeton, Texas; sister, Yvonne Jones and husband, Wendell of Hot Springs, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Winnie Jones.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2012, at Branch Baptist Church, 7011 FM546, Princeton, Texas, 75407.
