Rev. Loyd LaVern Laymon

Funeral Services for Rev. Loyd LaVern Laymon, 72 year old Trenton resident, are scheduled for 10 A.M. Monday August 26, 2013 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Pastor J. R. Thornhill will officiate. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery at Melissa. Family visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday August 25, 2013 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard.

Rev. Laymon was born October 18, 1940 at Roswell, New Mexico. His parents were Clinton Alfred and Hazel Pauline Pickens Laymon. He married Sharon Ann Jones Laymon February 28, 1986 at Weston, Texas. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Van Alstyne, the American Legion, the VFW, and IMA (International Ministerial Association). He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp and he attained the rank of Major in the Texas State Guard. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he was not afraid to make mistakes.

He is survived by his wife: Sharon Ann Jones Laymon of Trenton; his sons and daughters: J. Scott Laymon of Wills Point, Kelly J. Laymon of Plano, Vikki L. Laymon Smith of Rockwall, Jon E. Laymon of Westhoff, Cynthia D. Burks of McKinney and Amy L. Messer of Wakefield, KS.; his brother and sister: Herbert Laymon of The Colony and Katie Hudson of Dexter, New Mexico; his sister-in-law: Linda Aaron of Blue Ridge. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends. He never met a stranger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law: Ruby Jones.
