Retta Jean Bass Rose, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2008. SERVICE: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Highway 75, Exit 38, Ridgeview Drive, McKinney. Burial: Wilson Chapel Cemetery following the service. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of WCC, Inc. (to benefit Wilson Chapel Cemetery) c/o Leonard Thomas, 1704 Oak St, McKinney, TX 75069. Jean was born Jan 28, 1922, in McKinney. She was the daughter of Levi Lowery Bass and Rillie Evelina Love Bass. She was a 1941 graduate of Boyd High School, McKinney. She married Henry E. Jirasek on June 19, 1946. They had been married 38 years when he passed away. She later married Orbie A. Rose; Aug 8, 1986; they were married nine years. Jean was dedicated to her family-- raising a son and a daughter and enriching the lives of their spouses and her grandchildren. She had a network of family and friends that extended from coast-to-coast. She was a member of the Captain David Philips Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was active in the Friends of WCC, Inc., serving as a Trustee and Treasurer for many years. Everyone will miss her generous and loving spirit. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; her parents; her sister, Margaret Vidalene Farnsworth; and her brother, James Levi (J.L.) Bass, Jr. SURVIVORS: Her daughter, Nancy Jirasek Reeves and husband, David of Mansfield; her son, Tom Jirasek and wife, Donna of Princeton; grandchildren: Tamara Jirasek Adams and husband, Dale of Wichita Falls; Daniel Reeves and wife, Jennifer of Arlington, Mathew Jirasek and wife, Marybeth of Midland; and Mark Reeves and fiancé, Madeline Warren of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
