Rear Admiral O.A. "George" Lively

Rear Admiral O.A. “George” Lively, age 78, of Allen, Texas, and a former resident of Dallas, passed away September 7, 2009, in Plano, Texas. He was born on September 16, 1930, in Mason, Texas to Guy Walton and Verna (Covington) Lively. He was a graduate of Abilene High School. George was a 1952 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and was inducted into the USCG Athletic Hall of Fame. He proudly served his country for 25 years and retired as a 2 Star Admiral. On October 13, 1990, he married Emma “Angie” Martin in Talihina, Oklahoma. George was the former President of Luminator Corporation in Plano, Texas. He also served as President of the OSEI Corporation. He was a Shriner and a member of the Reserve Officers Association, and was an active member of the Republican Party. George was a lifetime Baptist and attended Firewheel Baptist Church in Garland, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Emma “Angie” Lively; brother, Franklin T. Lively and wife, Sarah of Austin, Texas; children, Laura Jean Davidson and husband, Terry of Poway, California, Richard Brandon Lively of Murphy, Texas and Cynthia Keller and husband, John of Richardson, Texas; grandsons, Bryce and Chase Keller; cousin, Melba Wright and additional nieces, nephews and a host of loving friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at the Firewheel Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Zucka officiating. Interment with honors will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
