Raymond Laverne Brooks passed away August 4, 2012 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born in McCook, Nebraska to Cletus and Ruth Brooks on October 16, 1932. He served in the United States Army while attending the University of Nebraska, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Business after his military service in Panama. He retired from Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas after 27 years of dedicated work.
He served in the community of Richardson, Texas where he raised his family for 30 years. He coached youth soccer for many years in Richardson and made an impact in many young people’s lives. He expressed the motto “It’s not what you have, but what you do with what you have that matters.”
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Delores Helena Brooks (Campbell) of McCook, Nebraska of 40 years, and their daughter Terry King of Largo, Florida. He will be dearly missed by his family of 15 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and his children Mike Brooks of Omaha, Nebraska; Mark Brooks of Centennial, Colorado; Beth Weaver of Spring, Texas; Scott Brooks of Westminster, Colorado; and Brian Brooks of Wylie, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any remembrances and memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas, where he will be laid to rest with Delores by his family.
