Funeral Services for Ray Franklin Lasater, 93 year old Dallas resident, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday April 7, 2010 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Charles Wrenn will officiate. Burial will be in the Valley Creek Cemetery near Leonard. Family visitation will be from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday April 6th at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Mr. Lasater was born December 10, 1916 at Bailey, Texas. His parents were Charles Franklin and Callie Mae McCurdy Lasater. He married Edith Barnett April 27, 1938 at Leonard. Mr. Lasater was retired from working as a supervisor in the shipping/receiving industry. He attended school at Bailey, Texas where he played basketball and baseball until he had to quit school to work in the fields. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He enjoyed doing special things for the people at the Leonard Nursing Home such as bringing the residents goodies to eat. He also enjoyed attending and helping with cemetery clean-up days at the Valley Creek, White Rock and Grove Hill Cemeteries. He passed away Saturday April 3, 2010 at the Autumn Leaves Nursing Center at Dallas. He is survived by his daughter: Glenda Nester of Dallas, Texas; his sister: Vera Frailicks of Bonham, Texas. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Barbara Keel and a brother: J.W. Lasater.
