Randy Lawrence Roland

Randy Lawrence Roland, age 32, passed away April 18, 2016, in Lubbock, Texas.  Randy’s home was with his family at 2165 Waterstone, Cross Roads, Texas 76227.  He was born on March 28, 1984, in Plano, Texas to George Cariker Roland, Jr. and Sharon (Pell) Roland.  Randy graduated from Princeton High School in 2002, received his undergraduate degree in 2006 from Texas Tech University and his Master’s Degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas.  He was employed by WW Steel in Lubbock, working as an estimator.  He was previously a counselor at UT Southwestern and Denton County MHMR.  Counseling was Randy’s passion, and he hoped to use his education and personal experiences to help others.  Randy had a great sense of humor and loved to sing, dance and draw.  He was a voracious reader and a serious movie buff.  Randy loved baseball, being outdoors, travel and adventure, but his greatest love was his family.  Randy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Celina, Texas. 

He is survived by his mother, Sharon Roland and husband, David Crook, of Cross Roads; his sister, Sarah Roland and husband Joshua Smith of Denton and their children, Ellie and Samuel; his brother, George Cariker Roland, III and wife, Rachel, also of Denton; David’s daughter, Stephanie Crook of Dallas; and grandparents, Bobby and Paralea Pell of Celina.

Randy is preceded in death by his father, George Roland and step-sister, Amy Roland. 

Funeral services will be held at Turrentine Jackson Morrow in McKinney/Allen on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 10:00am.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends during visitation on Friday, April 29, 2016, from 7:00-9:00pm. at Turrentine Jackson Morrow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Randy’s honor may be made to any addiction research organization, including:
