Ralph Leigh, Sr.

Ralph Leigh, Sr., age 73, of Frisco, Texas passed away June 25, 2012. He was born May 31, 1939 in Tillatoba, Mississippi to Dave Leigh, Sr. and Mattie Sumlin Leigh. On June 26, 1965 he married Jurel Richburg in Louisville, Kentucky. Ralph was baptized at Rehobath Baptist Church in Tillatoba, Mississippi. He was the minister of Bethel Baptist Church in Anchorage, Kentucky from 1966-1983. Ralph owned Richburg’s Supermarket in Louisville, Kentucky. He was very involved in the Urban Renewal project from 1970-1973 and received an honorary doctorate degree for his civil work. Ralph moved his family to Plano in 1983. He was a consultant for growing young churches. In 1995 he retried and worked part-time in the grocery business. Ralph loved the Frisco Senior Recreational Center.

He is survived by his wife, Jurel Leigh of Frisco, Texas; daughters, Cheryl Leigh of Los Angeles, California, Jilda Chatman and husband, Joseph of Frisco, Texas; son, Ralph Leigh, Jr. and wife, Nicole of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Jaidah Leigh, Jaxson Leigh and Joelle Leigh all of McKinney, Texas; brothers and sisters, Minnie, Dave, Jr., Girtha, Kathrine, U.C. “Buddy”, Mable, Mattie, Anna Belle, T. Arthur, Daniel, Corutey, Shirley, Betty, Jean and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Mattie Leigh; brothers, James, John and John-Eddie.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, June 30, 2012 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Alfred Bluitt officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00-9:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
