R.E. Stulting

R.E. Stulting, age 78, passed away on August 28, 2007, at his home in McKinney. He was born in Gonzales, Texas on July 26, 1929, to Readous and Iva Stulting. He served two terms in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the United Nations Ribbons, Navy Commendation Medal, the Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. In 1958, he married Nelda Rogers, and together they had six children. In 1973, they moved their family to the McKinney/Frisco area, where the entire family was deeply involved in both the Frisco school district and the First United Methodist Church of Frisco. Mr. Stulting loved sports and greatly enjoyed the participation of his children in football, basketball, baseball, volleyball and track and field (which was his favorite). He taught his children to always strive for excellence, on and off the playing field. Beloved father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed. Mr. Stulting is survived by his wife, Nelda, his children, Sharon Higgs of Frisco; Kathy and Javier Escobedo of McKinney, Russell and Kelly Stulting of Frisco, Karen Stulting of Anchorage, Alaska, Trish and Mike Whitlock of Frisco, and Julia and Gilbert Stulting-Flores of McKinney; grandchildren, Amanda Higgs, Kara Escobedo, Ryan Stulting, Jordan Whitlock, Cassidy Whitlock, Reilly Whitlock, Cameron Stulting-Flores, and Sophie Stulting-Flores. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and loving in-laws, step-grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren. He is preceeded in death by his parents as well as his siblings, Elton Stulting, Viola Ruth Lodge, Alycedene Potts, Donald Stulting, and Maurice Stulting. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 31, 2007, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
