R. Stanley Boykin

R. Stanley Boykin, 88, of Frisco, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2013. He was born February 12, 1924, in Wilson, North Carolina, the son of R. Stanley and Ann Farley Boykin. He attended high school in Wilson and graduated from The Darlington School in Rome, Georgia.

Stanley joined the Merchant Marines and then the US Army. As a young 1st Lieutenant, he served in WWII in the Pacific Theatre. After the War, he returned to enroll at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in business in 1950. Stanley began his career as a security analyst on Wall Street in New York.   However, he spent most of his career in the food service equipment industry. In 1970, he established R. Stanley Boykin, Inc., and later Boykin Red & Associates in that industry in Dallas, Texas, from which he retired in 1990. Stanley married Barbara Bishop on May 5, 1968 in Dallas, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 44 years; one son, Stephen B. Boykin of California; one granddaughter, Samantha; several cousins; a number of loving sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews and their children. He is preceded in death by his son, Mark C. Boykin; his parents and one sister, Laura Boykin Headley, Stanley and Barbara attended Christ Church in Plano, Texas. The family acknowledges the prayers, support and skilled nursing provided by Prairie Estates, Frisco, Texas.
