Polly Bell Edwards, of McKinney, Texas, passed away December 5, 2012 at the age of 80. She was born November 19, 1932, in Sherman, Texas, to R.V. and Florence (Hardcastle) Higginbotham. On June 4, 1980, Polly married J.D. Edwards in Sherman, Texas. In earlier years she was a fashion merchandiser for J.C. Penny Co., and later the owner of Edwards Shoes and Fashions located in McKinney. Polly was a member of Rheas Mill Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.
She is survived by her husband, J.D. Edwards of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Becky Gourley of Joplin, Missouri, Cindy Starcher of Warner, Oklahoma, Patti Clark and husband Terry of Independence, Kansas; stepsons, Dan Edwards and wife Cindy of Longview, Texas, Jim Edwards and wife Angela of Blanchard, Oklahoma; stepdaughter, Kay Jopling and husband Tom of Magnolia, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Baumback and husband Glenn of Goodman, Missouri; brother, Richard Higginbotham of Fresno, California; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
Polly is preceded in death by her parents, R.V. and Florence Higginbotham and sister, Jackie Essex.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Prosper, Texas.
