Phillip W. Owen, age 64, of Allen, TX passed away March 24, 2007 in Richardson, TX. He was born November 2, 1942, in Houston, TX to Wayne Mitchell and Bonnie Virene (Gleason) Owen. Phillip was a childhood member of Ft. Smith, AR Boy’s Club and was a 1958 Golden Gloves National Finalist. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. On March 6, 1971 he married Sharon Ann Leggott in Waco, TX. Phillip retired in 1986 from 3M National Advertising Company where he served as Operations Manager. Phillip was the recipient of the Gift of Life in 1992, receiving a Kidney/Pancreas transplant. He was the longest surviving recipient of this type of transplant procedure. The family wants to extend a special thank you to his donor’s family for blessing Phillip and his loved ones for the additional 14 years of precious life. The family also wishes to extend special thanks to: Dr. Ingemar Davidson with UT Southwestern Medical Center Dallas; Dr. Mark Lerman with Medical City Dallas Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Center; Sandy Hinton, RN, transplant coordinator at Medical City; and Dr. E. Paul Kaplan of Medical City. Phillip is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sharon; daughters, Angela Fabian & her husband Ben of Allen, TX; Allison Land & her husband Luke of Denton, TX; and Sheila Colburn & her husband Todd of AR; grandchildren Brittany Land and Kyle Colburn; brother Bill Owen & wife Linda of Greenwood, AR; sisters Sondra Lee & companion Gordon Fish of Greenwood, AR; and Dolores Hanna & husband Ronnie of Alma, AR; special Aunt Reba Cross of Greenwood, AK; and numerous Nieces & Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Monday, March 26, 2007 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Allen, TX. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the chapel.
