Phil Summers was born July 23, 1937 at Talpa, Texas to Jesse A. Summers and Pearl Sparks Summers. He married Waynona Lewis on March 24, 1980 at Kaufman, Texas. He died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the age of 72 at Medical Center of Plano in Plano, Texas. He served his nation in the U.S. Army, and was the founder of the Whitewright Chapter of the Texoma Soccer Association. He is survived by wife, Waynona Summers of Whitewright; son, Sean Summers of Sherman; daughter, Shannon Summers of Sherman; daughter, Kelly Patrick of Sherman; son, Mark Patrick of Plano; son, Thomas Patrick of Whitewright; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Nadine Nibbling of San Angelo; sister, Ila Mae Bullion of Lubbock; brother, Harvey Summers of Boerne; brother, Doug Summers of Austin; sister, Lu Ann Hedden of San Angelo; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Pearl Summers, and brothers, Murray and J.A. Summers. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Church of Christ, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Mr. Frazier Conley. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas. Military Honors will be provided at the graveside by an U.S. Army Honor Guard from Fort Hood, Texas. Pallbearers will be Brandon Wetzel, Craig Brantley, L. J. Jones, Mark Patrick, Thomas Patrick, Sean Summers, Steven McMillan, and Charles Cox. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Sunday afternoon to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday, May 9, 2010 from 3 to 5pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Whitewright, Texas.
