George Peter Tilley, age 71 of McKinney, Texas passed away January 9, 2015 in Napa, California two days shy of his 72nd birthday. Pete was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts January 11, 1943 to George Kenneth and Dorothy Irma (Willard) Tilley. The son of a career U.S. Navy man, Pete lived all over the United States. After high school in Lakewood, Washington, he worked for the Wonder Bread Co. in Hawaii, Oklahoma City, and Dallas, Texas for a combined thirteen years. Then he fell in love with Carol Jean Harris of McKinney, Texas, who encouraged him to start his own construction clean-up business in 1985, which he worked for twenty-one years, retiring in 2006. At the time of his death, Pete was visiting his sister in California.
He is survived by daughters, Lynda Torres, Tisha Hardy and husband Roy both of Hawaii, Tracey Kirby and Shelia Kay Bass and husband Jacky both of Melissa, Texas, Dianna Mitchell of Allen, Texas; sons, Jeremiah Tilley of Melissa, Texas and Michael Tilley of Hawaii; fifteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; sister Susan Ah-Mau and husband Dennis of Napa, California along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pete was preceded in death by his wife Carol in 1996.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
