Peggy Leggett Montgomery

Peggy Leggett Montgomery was born May 4, 1932 in Blue Ridge, Texas to Joe Bailey Leggett and Lula Florence Childress Leggett. She married Billy Earl Montgomery on June 10, 1956 in Durant, Oklahoma. She died Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Homestead of Sherman in Sherman, Texas at the age of 83. She was proud to live in her home in Sherman, Texas for 49 years.

Peggy was a graduate of Celeste High School in 1949, graduating as Salutatorian. She was a member of the girl’s basketball team. She worked at Gibson’s Department Store in Sherman for 17 years. After Gibson’s closed she went to work at Goodwill Industries of North Texas for 17 years retiring as an Assistant Manager.

Peggy loved decorating her home and entertaining her friends and family. She loved her Texas Rangers, faithfully watching every game she could. She enjoyed square dancing with her husband, reading a good book and her favorite soap operas. She enjoyed serving as Secretary of the Sherman Garden Club for a number of years. She considered her family her greatest achievement and was proud of each and every one of them. They were her pride and joy. She loved her family very much and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by daughter, Lisa Montgomery and husband Steven Mullins of Sherman; daughter, Luann Kenyon of Brimfield, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Leigh Smart and husband Jason of Fort Worth; Sarah Matthews and husband Stuart of Melissa; Gunnery Sergeant J. B. Kenyon and wife Christina of Cape Carteret, North Carolina; Bobby Kenyon of Haver Hill, Massachusetts; and Glenn Kenyon and Brittany Zuidema of Brimfield, Massachusetts; great-grandchildren, DeLaney, Maddie, Colton, Blair, Brynnleigh, Bailey, Riley, Laney, Brady, Evelyn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Billy Earl Montgomery; son, Karl Montgomery; and brother, Bobby Gene Leggett.

Memorial Services will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Stacey Piyakhun.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Friday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 6-8pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas.
