Paul Charles Owens

Paul Charles Owens, 93, of McKinney,  passed away on February 15, 2015. He was born October 23, 1921 in Clinton, Iowa to the late Leo P. Owens and Susan Manning.  Paul attended school in Clinton, Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science - Commerce degree in 1942.  Paul joined the United States Army and served as a captain with the 3rd Battalion, 313th  Infantry in the European Theatre from 1942-1946. He was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism.  He married Arline Smith on April 9, 1946.  He graduated from the University of Iowa, College of Law with his Juris Doctor degree in 1948. His favorite pastimes included golf, bridge, and reading.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Jean Klein and husband Norman of Lubbock, Texas, Dan Owens and his wife Sandy of McKinney, and Kevin Owens of Escondido, California; six grandchildren, Jeff Klein of  Frisco, Texas, Julie Waltrip of  Boerne, Texas, Jessica Zais and husband John of Lubbock, Texas, Ben Heller and wife Julie of Amarillo, Texas, Stephanie Quigg and husband Casey of Fort Worth, Texas, and Zac Owens and wife Brooke ofFort Worth, Texas; twelve great-grandchilden; and a sister-in-law, Mary Leonard and husband Benny of Bella Vista, Arkansas.  

Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, Arline, an infant son, Patrick; a daughter, Sue Schmechel of Amarillo, Texas; three brothers, James Owens of Clinton, Iowa,  Joseph Owens of Clinton, Iowa, and Leonard Owens of Oregon; four sisters, Mary Doherty of Clinton, Iowa, Helen Beardsley of  Rock Island, Illinois, Catherine Abbott of Washington, D. C. and Rachel Duncan of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The family will gather for a private memorial service at 4:00p.m., on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.

Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project.
