Patricia Lee (Mitchell) Oitker born March 11, 1931, in Wichita, Kansas, was welcomed into heaven on October 17, 2010. Pat was a woman of strong faith, and we are comforted knowing she is at peace with the Lord. Pat, the second daughter of the late Orville and Blanche Mitchell, spent her childhood and early adult life in Kalamazoo, MI. In 1963 she married Robert Neil Oitker and they began their life together in Grand Rapids, MI. Pat devoted herself to her daughters Paula (Rick) Doss of McKinney, TX and Emily (David) DeYoung of Grand Rapids, MI. She took great pride in her family, and her role as a wife and mother. After Bob retired, they left the cold Michigan winters behind and spent six years enjoying life and each other in Beverly Hills, FL. After Bob passed away, Pat moved to McKinney, TX in 2000 to be close to her family. During this time she enjoyed traveling with her sister Carolyn Nycum of Kalamazoo, MI, and together they created some wonderful memories. She is also survived by her grandchildren Hannah Kidwell and Matthew Doss of McKinney, TX, and Dylan, Olivia and Lauren Marsh, Kiri, Kaleigh, and Gabriel DeYoung of Grand Rapids, MI. They will miss their Grandma greatly. In lieu of flowers, Pat’s family asks that donations be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, or the Salvation Army. Cremation has taken place, and Pat will be laid to rest beside her beloved Bob at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Pat was blessed with an amazing ability to nurture and maintain friendships, and remained in touch with so many people from every season of her life. A Remembrance Reception will be held in Grand Rapids, MI on October 31 from 2:00-4:00pm. The reception will be held at The Meeting Room of Adoption Associates, 1338 Baldwin, Jenison, MI (the corner of Baldwin & Boulder Bluff).
