IN LOVING MEMORY

Pat Mitchell

Jul 06 1934 - Mar 31 2014

Patsy Ruth (Pat) Mitchell of McKinney, Texas, passed from this earthly life on March 31, 2014 at the age of 79.  She loved to dance, travel and watch old movies, but her passions were God, family, and friends.  She will truly be missed by so many.

Pat was born July 6, 1934 to Clarence C. and Grace Aline (Vick) Biggs in Celina, Texas.  She left school to marry Eugene Stanley Mitchell and although she regretted not graduating with her classmates, she never regretted the life she made with Gene. She did return to school later studying accounting and went to work for Texas Pacific Land Trust in Dallas before starting a 20 year career with Triton Oil and Gas Corporation and retiring in 1989.  Pat was active in her church, Community North Baptist, danced several times a week at various senior centers around North Texas, walked 1-2 miles almost every day, belonged to The Gaslighters Book Club and the Red Hat Society, visited the Dairy Queen regularly, and attended activities hosted by her apartment complex.  She also loved to travel visiting Hawaii (twice), the New England States (loved the history), many different countries in Europe, and Australia, but her favorite trips were right here in Texas from the Hill Country to the Valley.  Pat enjoyed life to the fullest.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, brothers J.C. (Buddy) and Lynn, and sisters Frances, Elizabeth, Jo and Billie.  She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Sandy) Jones and husband Dennis of Houston, Texas; son, Greg Mitchell and wife Rosita of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Vanessa Hornsby of Katy, Texas, Mark Jones and wife Melissa of Houston, Texas, Shannon Guest and husband Simon of London, England, Kristen Jones of Ponder, Texas, and Lauren Jones of Lewisville, Texas; great-grandchildren, Grant Hornsby and Emme Guest; close friend and dancing partner Bill Gray, of Sherman, Texas; fourteen nieces and nephews and their children whom she loved dearly; and so very many cherished friends and relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Community North Baptist Church, 2500 Community Avenue, McKinney, Texas 75071.  Interment will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation Thursday evening, April 3, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
