Ozell Hays Rankin Sweeney was born on December 21, 1922 in Cooper, Texas to Tom Hays and Helen McMillon Hays. She later married P. B. Rankin and after his death she later married Lewis Sweeney who also preceded her in death. She was employeed by the Sinton I.S.D. as Director of School Food Services for 31 years retiring in 1982. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tom Bean. Ozell passed away on January 21, 2010 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman. She is survived by son, Tom Rankin and wife Tammy; son, Terry Sweeney and wife Karen; daughter, Marie Rankin Moorehead; step-daughter, Fontella Sweeney Malik; step-daughter, Jackie Sweeney Love; sister, Lena Hays Whistler; sister, Loveta Hays Burger; brother, Kenneth V. Hays and wife Grace; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 36 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins by the dozens. She was preceded in death by parents, 2 husbands, P.B. Rankin and Lewis Sweeney; 4 brothers and 4 sisters; step-son, Donald Sweeney; step-daughter, Phylis Sweeney Kreig; grandson, Nelson Malik; granddaughter, Tammie Love; great-great-grandson, Caleb Wallace. Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM, Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Tom Bean, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. John Hall, Rev. Preston Cave and Rev. Brandon Cave. Burial will follow at Vittitoe Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jess Lee Rankin, Darren Rankin, Dennis Bryant, Michael Bryant, Troy Moorehead, Bruce Babineau, Ruel Love III, and Jimmy Rankin. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Saturday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Saturday January 23, 2010 from 6-8pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Tom Bean, Texas.
