Oscar Eugene Willard

Oscar Eugene Willard, age 88 of Frisco, Texas passed away on March 10, 2009. He was born on December 31, 1920 in Cumberland, Maryland to John Perry and Elizabeth (Law) Willard. Oscar was working as a speed lathe operator when he enlisted in the US Army. He proudly served his country during WWII and was awarded several medals including the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Upon his return to Cumberland, Maryland, he married Helen Welsh on August 14, 1945. Oscar worked as a lumber grader then moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1952. There he worked for Reynolds Aluminum and later for the U.S. Postal Service where he retired in 1973. Oscar was a first class father, grandpa and great grandpa, as well as an incredibly loyal and faithful husband and friend. He was a wonderful story teller and was especially fond of history, specifically the American Civil War and WWII. He was an avid football fan of the Baltimore Colts and the Arizona State University Sun Devils. Oscar was also a Mason, member of the Ohr Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Cumberland, Maryland for over 50 years. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Dunsworth of Sacremento, California; grandsons, Christopher and Catherine Chester and Michael and Glynis Chester all of Frisco, Texas; sister, Elizabeth Willard of Cumberland, Maryland; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Willard of Green Spring, West Virginia and Mary Kephart of Keyser, West Virginia; brother-in-law, Roger Ware of Buffalo, New York; great grandchildren, Aidan, Dermot, Amanda, Aletha, Morgan and Jordan; He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Welsh Willard; parents, John Perry and Elizabeth Willard; brothers, Sgt. Vernon Willard, Kenneth Willard and John Willard. Funeral services are pending at this time in Phoenix, Arizona.
