Orville Eugene "Gene" Taylor

Orville Eugene “Gene” Taylor, age 78, of McKinney, Texas passed away February 18, 2012. He was born March 10, 1933 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Harry Orville Taylor and Birtle (Milam) Taylor. Gene grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. On March 22, 1951 he enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on March 21, 1955. Gene was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal (2 stars), United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation. After his service in the Navy, he moved to Texas in 1963. Gene was a Journeyman electrician for 40 years with IBEW Local #59. He most recently was the caretaker for the Diamond D Ranch in McKinney since 1997. He enjoyed farming and ranching.

 He is survived by his sons, Ray Taylor and wife, Donna of The Colony, Texas, Billy Taylor and wife, Teresa of Caddo Mills, Texas; grandchildren, Amber Rutledge of Lewisville, Texas, Aaron Taylor of Rhome, Texas, Austin Taylor of Lubbock, Texas and Ashlyn Taylor of Caddo Mills, Texas; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Rutledge; brother, Morris Taylor and wife, Lodus of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Roberta Roberts and husband, Lendell of Midwest City, Oklahoma and a host of other family and friends. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Taylor and Birtle Taylor Arney.

 Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 23, 2012 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Dr. Danny Buster officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:15 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.

 The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
