Oneta Faye Wilcox Abbott was born April 15, 1919 in Collin County and passed away July 5, 2009 in Richardson, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Edward and Nettie Morton Wilcox, and her husband, Elton E. Abbott. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Dorcas and Stanley Helms, Linda and John Buchanan. She had four grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. Bradley Helms, Steven and Kappi Helms, Kelley Buchanan, Rhonda and Robbie LaFarge. She also had four great-grandchildren, Holiday and Kate Helms, Kimberly and John Mark Young. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Troy and Laura Alice Wilcox, and her sister, Patsy Jo Dillard. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1936 where she played basketball. Oneta loved working and continued her work as a florist until she was 80 when health issues forced her retirement. She was active in her church, First Baptist Church of Allen and for many years did volunteer work at local hospitals. Her family especially thanks the staff at Atria of Richardson for their loving support and care for the last two years. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2009, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Tuesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
