Oleta Beatrice Johns Kemp

Oleta Beatrice Johns Kemp, 89, formerly of Collin County passed away May 23, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born in Collin County on August 21, 1924 to Willie and Lois (Hollis) Johns. Oleta married her high school sweetheart Kenneth W. Kemp on March 22, 1941 in Durant, Oklahoma. Traveling was something that Oleta had the opportunity to participate in, traveling locally, in country and abroad. She was an avid golfer. Oleta was most passionate about her gardening; she enjoyed spending time and working out of doors. Oleta and her husband Kenneth were partners in their construction business for over forty years. She was a member of the Carrollton Professional Women’s Organization for many years and was active in several local clubs and organizations. Oleta felt honored to be a lifetime member of the Church of Christ. She taught the first grade bible class for some time. Oleta was a volunteer at the Scottish Rite Hospital. When her children were in school, she was a member of the PTA and served as an officer as well as a council member of the PTA. She was an energetic, vivacious woman who fiercely loved her family, and was always surrounded by friends. Oleta devoted much of her time over the years hosting family functions feeling that family was of a vital importance. 

She is survived by a son, grandchildren,  great-grandchildren,  great-great grandchildren and many extended family members who will miss her dearly.  

Oleta was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband, grandson, son and daughter.  

At her request, a graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow in Allen, Texas.
