Odie Hiett Smith of Fairview, Texas passed away April 11, 2012 at the age of 95. She was born January 11, 1917 to David Edward and Willie (Brazzil) Hiett in Harrison County, Texas. She married B.L. Smith in 1937. They spent 59 blessed years together before his passing in 1996. They lived and raised their family in Longview, Texas. Odie loved cooking, fishing and gardening. Her deepest love was for her family and it will be rooted in them forever. Odie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wylie, Texas.
She is survived by her daughter, Dwan Diaz and husband Carlos of Fairview, Texas; granddaughter, Donna Moses and husband John of Lucas, Texas; greatgranddaughters, Mikayla and Macy Moses also of Lucas, Texas.
Funeral services will be held, 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 13, 2012 at Creekwood United Methodist Church in Allen, Texas. Interment will be held 3:30 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Longview, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
