Norman Delano Grills, age 67, of Plano, Texas passed away February 14, 2013, in Plano. Norman was born April 6, 1945, in Campbellford, Ontario, Canada, to Manley and Clara (Darragh) Grills. He married Sandra Winkcompleck on April 12, 1986 in Dallas, Texas. Norman grew up in Canada. He worked for Northern Telecom (Nortel) for over twenty-seven years in various positions, most recently as a project manager. Norman’s hobbies included long distance endurance motorcycling. He also enjoyed hockey, was an expert skier, and loved music and dancing. Norman was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Grills of Plano, Texas; children, Jeff Grills and wife, Leesa of Austin, Texas, Terri Lawhon and husband, Jim of Mesquite, Texas, Will Coleman of Norman, Oklahoma, Heath Staten and wife, Chelsea of Plano, Texas, and Anne Thompson and husband, Mark of Morrow, Ohio; grandchildren, Winter Grills, Scott Grills, Justin Lawhon, Tristan Lawhon, Matthew Lawhon, Madison Lawhon, Chase Staten, Lacey Thompson, and Kate Thompson; brothers, Bob Darragh and Basil Darragh, both of Ontario, Canada; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends during a visitation from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 18, 2013, at Prestonwood Baptist Church Chapel in Plano, Texas with Rev. Barry Wood officiating. The family will also receive friends during a visitation from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Monday prior to the service.
