Norma Jean Layman

Our mother, Norma Jean Layman, went to spend Christmas with her Lord and Savior Monday, December 20, 2010 at Denison Manor. Norma was born in Holbrook, Nebraska to Robert and Rose Hilker Warner on July 12, 1924. She attended school in Holbrook and graduated from Karney State College in Karney, Nebraska in 1940. Norma taught school in rural Nebraska for five years before marrying Robert L. Layman on May 15, 1946 in Holbrook, Nebraska. They made their home in Whitewright, Texas where they raised five children. Norma was preceded in death by the love of her life, Robert Layman, on February 12, 2007. Survivors include her five children, Robert W. and Barbara Layman of Whitewright, Geneva and Doug Smith of Denison, Roy and Laura Layman of Denison, Chris and Polly Layman of Whitewright, and Jeanie and James Millspaugh of Frisco. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, as well as three brothers, a sister, and numerous relatives and friends. Our mother's sweet spirit will be forever missed here on Earth, but will be greatly cherished in heaven. Norma was a member of the Kentuckytown Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff of Denison Manor for their loving care of our mother for the past three years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 10:00am at the Kentuckytown Baptist Church. Officiating the service will be Rev. Greg Allen. Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Whitewright, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Tuesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 from 6-8pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas.
