Nelda Shirlene Higginbotham, age 80, of McKinney, Texas, passed away March 6, 2011, in McKinney. Nelda was born on December 3, 1930, in Pampa, Texas, to James C. and Mabel (Dicken) Higginbotham. She retired from TWA after thirty years of service and then retired from Texas Instruments as a receptionist in the security department. Nelda traveled the world, loved opera, and loved her dogs. She is survived by her brother, Clovis Higginbotham of LaFayette, Louisiana; nieces, Gayla Scalf of McKinney, Texas, Barbara Alsobrook of Howe, Texas, and Claudia Delcelto of Pullman, Washington; and nephews, Gary Hartley of Melissa, Texas, James Higginbotham of Lakewood, Colorado, and Toby Higginbotham of Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lemuel Higginbotham and sister, Elga Hartley. A Remembrance Gathering will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2011, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA of McKinney, Texas.
