Neal Morris Ware

Neal Morris Ware, 68, was born October 21, 1945, in Ellsworth, Kansas, to Wendell Stoy Ware and Helen Geraldine Morris Ware. He departed this earthly life March 22, 2014, following a 2+ year battle with cancer. Memorial Retired Fire Fighter Services will be conducted by Chaplain, Gary Rushing, of the Richardson Fire Department, Friday, March 28, at 4:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, TX. Inurnment will be private.

Neal began his school years in Logan, Kansas, and graduated Kimball High School, Dallas, Texas. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1964, and served on the U.S.S. Enterprise for 3 tours to Viet Nam. His 4th tour was interrupted with the explosion and fire on the Enterprise. He finished his Navy career in 1971 as a Petty Officer 2nd Class.

He was a mechanic for the City of Richardson and in 1979 became a fire fighter/EMT with the Fire Department of Richardson achieving the rank of Lieutenant before retiring from the Richardson Fire Department. On his time off from the Richardson Fire Department, Neal volunteered with the Frisco Volunteer Fire Department by teaching classes, helping with mechanics, maintenance and fighting fires. In an impressive ceremony, Representative Sam Johnson presented Neal “The City of Richardson Fire Fighter of the Year Award.”

Neal married the love of his life, Linda Sue Fickey, on July 15, 1967, in Dallas, Texas. His two daughters, Leah Michelle and Emily Catherine were true joys.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Linda Ware; daughters Leah Mawhee and husband Korey, Plano, TX; Emily Davis and husband Gabriel, Van Alstyne; grandsons Keaton and Parker Mawhee; brother Gary Wendell Ware and wife Mary Ellen, Palm Harbor, FL; sister Mary Ann Ashley, Canadian, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; fire fighter family, fishing and cycling buddies and Bible Study group.

Neal was a man of service. “Faith is not about everything turning out okay. It is about being okay, no matter how things turn out.”
