Naomi Hill Eldridge

Naomi Hill Eldridge, age 92, a longtime resident of McKinney, TX passed away October 06, 2014, in McKinney, TX from complications of heart failure. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who always sacrificed her own needs to unselfishly put her family’s needs before her own. Naomi was born in Lemesa, TX on December 15, 1921 to Radford and Lillie (Compton) Hill, one of twelve children born to this union. She was the last surviving member of this large family. Naomi moved at a young age to a farm located near Wolfe City, TX. She spent her youth working on the family cotton farm. Naomi often recalled how tough times were trying to feed and clothe twelve children during the depression of the 1930’s and was amazed how her parents were able to do so. Naomi was a graduate of Wolfe City High School. She married Cleburne Eldridge in Greenville, TX on June 26, 1942 and just recently marked 72 years of marriage. Naomi retired from Texas Instruments. She was a member of the Waddill Street Baptist Church in McKinney, TX.

Naomi is survived by son, David Eldridge and wife Melody, also of McKinney, grandchildren, Julie Eldridge Earnest and husband, Chris of Frisco, TX and Jill Eldridge Sullivan and husband, Josh of McKinney; great-grandchildren, Emma Olivia Earnest, Elin Ann Earnest, and Jack Eldridge Sullivan, and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cleburne Eldridge, son, Gary L. Eldridge, and eleven brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 09, 2014, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, TX. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation at 7:00 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home.
