Nancy McCool Paschal Williams

                                                                                             October 25, 1928 – December 12, 2013

On Thursday, December 12, 2013, Nancy McCool Williams went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior after a brief illness. She passed away peacefully surrounded lovingly by her five children, Fred L. Williams, Jr., Julie Williams Drake, Martha Williams Fuller, Kimberly Williams, Christina Williams, and her former husband and devoted friend to the end, Fred L. Williams, Sr. Nancy McCool was born October 25, 1928 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Madge and William Walker “Mac” McCool.   Her father was the assistant manager for many years at the Nueces Hotel. Her mother Madge McCool was for many years the devoted Executive Assistant to Mr. Morris Lichenstein, owner of Lichenstein’s department store. She enjoyed many wonderful years in Corpus Christi growing up attending Downtown Baptist Church and graduating from Corpus Christi High School in 1944. After high school, she enrolled at Baylor University, graduating in 1948 with a Fine Arts degree.   While at Baylor she met many lifelong friends, joined the Athenian sorority (the forerunner to Kappa Kappa Gamma) and was a Baylor Beauty.

Upon graduation, she returned to Corpus Christi to work. She soon met Frank C. Paschal, a U.S. Navy pilot stationed at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. They married after a yearlong courtship. Frank was soon transferred and they moved to the Naval Air Station in Pleasantville, New Jersey. After just six months of marriage, Frank was tragically killed when his Navy trainer crashed into the Hudson River on April 13, 1951.

She returned to Corpus Christi where she became the Executive Assistant to her fellow high school and Baylor classmate, Howard Butt, Jr. of H.E.B. Grocery Company when the company’s headquarters was still in Corpus Christi. While there, she met a young sales manager with Procter and Gamble, Fred L. Williams. Their life’s goals seemed so compatible and they soon married on September 4, 1953.   Over the next twelve years, they produced five remarkable children. With his close business relationship with the H.E.B. Food chain, Fred became associated with H.E.B. as president and founder of Texas Gold Trading Stamp Company, a subsidiary. They loved their time in Corpus Christi revolving around wonderful friends, the many children’s activities and their beloved First Baptist Church.

After 45 years in Corpus Christi, Nancy and Fred moved to Dallas, Texas in 1973. Nancy spent the next 40 years focused on raising her family and pursuing careers in real estate with Ebby Halliday and as a marketing specialist selling group insurance with Wolff and Associates. She was originally a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church and later attended Stonebriar Community Church.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Mac and Madge McCool. She is survived by her five children; Fred L. Williams, Jr. and wife, Kellye of Houston, Texas; Julie Williams Drake and husband Brad of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; Martha Williams Fuller and husband, Matt of Frisco, Texas; Kimberly Williams and Christina Williams of New York City, New York; grandchildren Andrew Drake and wife Amber of Malvern, Arkansas; Zach Drake and wife Emilee of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Aleksandra Fuller and Haley Fuller of Frisco, Texas; Preston Williams and Courtney Williams of Houston, Texas; her loving sister Marilyn McCool Kell of Canyon Lake, Texas and former husband, Fred L. Williams.

She was a devoted mother, a faithful friend, Christian by faith who loved her family and friends deeply. She will be forever missed.
