Murray Dean Johnson, Sr., age 77 of Gunter, Texas passed away on May 10, 2008 in Gunter. He was born on January 28, 1931 in Kemp, Oklahoma to Rueben George and Catherine (Hedgecock) Johnson. Murray married Lina Pauline Yakle on September 2, 1958 in Durant, Oklahoma and together they had four children. He is survived by his wife, Lina Johnson of Gunter, Texas; children, Murray Johnson, Jr. and wife, Donna of McKinney, Texas, Paul William Johnson and wife Valerie of Lewisville, Texas, Deborah Ann Conner and husband, Wendell of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Nedra Ann Highlen and husband, Delbert of Gunter, Texas; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Lane Johnson, James Jackson, Ronnie Jackson; sisters, Connie Henderson and Nedra Mallow. Murray is preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Melody Highlen and Esther Johnson; brother, George Johnson and sister, Jo Margaret Johnson; great-grandson, Jonathan Johnson. The Family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday, May 12, 2008 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Gunter, Texas from 6-8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 300 Pecan St., Gunter, TX 75058, with Rev. Mark Mullins and Rev. Rueben Paul officiating. Interment will follow at Whitaker Cemetery in Gunter. Memorials may be made in Murray's memory to the Bible Missionary Church in Greenville, Texas.
