Mrs. Marguerite Stelzer

Mrs. Marguerite Stelzer, age 86, of McKinney, Texas passed away February 6, 2010. She was born May 12, 1923 in Westminster, Texas to Andrew J. and Maudie (Tree) Giles. She received a Bachelor of Education from the University of North Texas, formerly North Texas State Teachers College. Mrs. Stelzer began her teaching career in Keller, Texas. She spent the next 27 years as a 3rd grade teacher at Browning Heights Elementary in the Birdville Independent School District. Mrs. Stelzer passed on her love of learning and education to her sons, both of whom are educators in their respective towns. On August 22, 1949 she married Ben Frank Stelzer in Sherman, Texas. Mrs. Stelzer was a past president of the Retired Teachers Association. She was a previous member of Tyrolese Club, the Home Extension Service and the Gas Lighters Book Review Club. Mrs. Stelzer was a member of First United Methodist Church of McKinney, where she was a part of the Golden Agers. Mrs. Stelzer will be remembered for her dedication to family and zest for life. She had a love of travel and outings with her clubs and organizations. She is survived by her sons, Joe Frank Stelzer and wife, Valerie of Allen, Texas and Dale Andrew Stelzer and wife, Cheryl of Lubbock, Texas; granddaughter, Jaclyn Anne Haynie and husband, Ryan of Norman, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Frank Stelzer. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Monday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
