Monte Ray Landers, age 75, of Melissa, Texas, passed away on May 31, 2015. He was born on August 19, 1939 in McKinney, Texas to Willie Houston and Argel Augusta (Griffin) Landers On December 22, 1983, Monte married Melody Pepper in Littleton, Colorado. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Monte was a police officer in Aurora, Colorado, where he retired after 26 years of service; later Monte worked in Management for Albertson’s grocery stores in Allen, Plano and McKinney, as well as working for McKinney Medical Center as a Telemetry Technician for 7 years. He loved fishing, woodworking, and music. Monte enjoyed playing the harmonica, guitar and the piano. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Melody Landers of Melissa, Texas; children, Tricia Landers Ragsdale and husband Robb of Atlanta, Georgia, Trey Griffin Landers of Allen, Texas and Brandon Lance Haaland of Sachse, Texas; grandchildren, Brittney Nicole Pysllas and Skyler Grace Ragsdale; mother, Argel Augusta Griffin Landers of Allen, Texas.
Monte is preceded in death by his father, Willie “Bill” Houston Landers.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.
