Mildred Ann Swanner

Mrs. Mildred Ann Swanner, age 97, of McKinney, Texas passed away on January 6, 2004 in Amarillo, Texas. She was born on July 2, 1906, in Farmersville, Texas to Rev. and Mrs. Charles Rowe Gotcher. She married Franklin Earl Swanner on October 14, 1931, in McKinney, Texas. Mrs. Swanner graduated from McKinney High School. She also graduated from Mary Hardin Baylor University in 1927. Mrs. Swanner taught public school in Plainview, Kress and Lockney, Texas. She taught at Wayland Baptist University, where she was Chairman of the Science Department. Mrs. Swanner was active at the Heard Museum in McKinney. She was a member of the Wednesday Book Club and also a member of the En Avant Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Swanner is survived by her daughters, Peggy Patterson and husband, Bill of Star Harbor, Texas, Dr. Rebekah Noel and husband, Jim of San Antonio, Texas and Brenda Kate Brown of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Will, Jeff, and Matt Patterson, Jay McGahey, Terry and Cynthia Trowell, and Aimee and Les Brown; 16 great grandchildren; nephew, James Melvin (Jim) Gotcher; and many other loving relatives and friends. The pallbearers will be the grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 9, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in McKinney with Dr. Jeff Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
