Mildred Fern Steglich

Fern Steglich was born June 28, 1923 in Davis, Oklahoma and died peacefully with her devoted husband at her side on September 14, 2007 in Frisco, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed Wiley and Ida Faulkner Wiley; her brothers Ed Wiley and Woodrow Wiley; her sister, Beulah Garrett; and her daughter, Linda Ann Steglich. Fern is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Lenwood Steglich; sons, Dr. A. Lee Steglich and wife Melanie Bowen Steglich; Gregory B. Steglich and wife Judith Reynolds Steglich; Steven Dewitt Steglich and wife Jana Kay Steglich; three grandchildren, Kohl Sutton Steglich, Koen James Steglich, and Eva Paige Steglich. Kohl’s favorite memories of Grandma are eating her chocolate pies, making rice crispy treats, and watching cartoons together. Tom and Jerry was their favorite. Koen remembers trips to the ice skating rink and Eva loved making oatmeal cookies with Grandma. Fern Steglich reached out to everyone she met and leaves behind a host of family and friends, including special friends Tran and Linda Chau; and her loving niece, Carolyn Sowers. The family will receive friends and loved ones at the Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2007. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Frisco at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2007. Dr. Chuck Martin will lead in the celebration of Fern’s life. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at the College Station Cemetery in College Station, Texas, where Fern will be laid to rest. Dr. Malcolm Baines will preside over the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts be made to the First Baptist Church of Belton, Texas with the funds being designated to the Alzheimer’s Respite Account, P.O. Box 5, Belton, Texas 76513.
