Mildred Inez "Mimi" Daniel Byrd

Mildred Inez “Mimi” Daniel Byrd, age 87, passed away at Meadowbrook Care Center, a small not-for-profit care home in Van Alstyne, Texas on Wednesday, May 23, 2007. She was born on June 19, 1919, just outside of Georgetown, Texas to the late Leonlus and Blanche Daniel. She was a long time resident of Dallas, Texas where she married and 20 years later was divorced from Charles Terry Byrd. In the late 60’s she became the business manager for HWK Construction. In 1969 she moved to Bowie, Texas where she lived until 1992 when she then moved to Tom Bean, Texas where she lived until 2006. Meadowbrook Care Center was her final home where she had truly enjoyed her new family and friends until she slipped away in her sleep. Mimi had traveled the Southwest in her role as a manager for HWK Construction. Her desserts were famous where ever she lived and her recipes are family treasures. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Wayne, Charles, and Weldon Daniel. She is survived by her son Joe Daniel of Mesquite, Texas; daughter Lindy Sanford of Albany, New York; and daughter Gwennel Moore and husband Fred of Grayson County, Texas; brother Gene Daniel; sister Rachel Everett; grandchildren Joe Daniel, Jr., Sarah McDowell, Candy Crowley, Tina Glennon, Jeff Sanford, Pete Sanford, Becky Holcomb, Jeremy Sanford, Andy Moore, Jason and Jeremy Ackerman; more than 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2007, at the Earnheart Chapel in Tom Bean, Texas. Family visitation will be held at the Chapel on Friday, May 25 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Vittitoe Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Sanford, Peter Sanford, Jeremy Sanford, Andy Moore, Justin Holcomb, Gary Holcomb, and Fred Moore. The family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to a fund in her name at Meadowbrook Care Center, 100 Windsor Dr., Van Alstyne, Texas 75495, to help with the immediate needs of residents without resources.
