Michael Clair Shaner

Michael Clair Shaner of Plano, Texas passed away July 1, 2012 at the age of 68.  He was born January 22, 1944 in El Dorado, Kansas to Herbert Ellsworth and Naomi Beatrice (Tuggle) Shaner.  On November 29, 1964, Michael married Charlene Bonnel in El Dorado, Kansas. As a Christian man, he loved his family and was very involved both as a father and grandfather; he coached his boys in baseball and went undefeated during the last season; he took great pride in serving as Boy Scout Leader for his sons; he loved to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities. Michael was a very loving and giving man, always putting others ahead of himself. He enjoyed watching Fox News, the Dallas Mavericks, the Texas Rangers and western movies, particularly movies starring John Wayne. Michael loved to travel.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene Shaner of Plano, Texas; sons, Kevin Shaner of Richardson, Texas and Eric Shaner of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Michael Shaner and Cathleen Miller of Savannah, Texas, Ayla Shaner and Jeff Dunn of Dallas, Texas and Dillon Shaner of Richardson, Texas; great-grandchildren, Calleigh Evans of Savannah, Texas and Brody Shaner (due July 26th) of Savannah, Texas; brother, Herbert Shaner and wife Rita of Wichita, Kansas; sisters, Joyce Jones and Betty Jackson both of Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anna and Tom Hurley of Westminster, Colorado; seventeen nieces and nephews; many other loving family members and friends.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Naomi Shaner; sister, Norma Daniels; brothers-in-law, Richard Jones, James Jackson and Clair Daniels; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Ethel Bonnel.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 pm until 9:00 p.m., on Tuesday evening, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
